The Route From Cultus Lake

Lynn Ash - The Route From Cultus Lake
Drawing on memories of childhood camping vacations in the Oregon Cascades, Ash took her first solo trip to Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument in 1980.

This first taste of camping freedom so whetted her thirst for more that in 1981 she quit her job, bought a used VW camper, and traveled and camped around the U.S. and Canada for an entire year.

Her story is filled with the love of nature, adventure, danger, romance, and self-reflection. Along the way she offers geographic interpretations of landscapes she sees, and opens our eyes to the surprisingly colorful world of birds.

Ash endures loneliness, inclement weather, and long arduous days on the road, but is amply rewarded by the wonders of the natural world she cherishes.

"This is a delightful read. Ms. Ash's descriptive talent takes you right along on the journey as if you are there."
